Experimented with the filters again, and got a few decent shots of both
Jupiter though Violet filter, bands visible.

and
Venus through Violet filter, very low exposure.

The advice I got from Astronomy and Astronomy 101 came in very handy. I cranked down the exposure on Venus, and the starbust effect did disappear.

In regards to the starburst effect, you mean venus' super brightness through the eyepiece which can give bad views? If so, maybe I should get a violet filter too...

Sort of. I took a picture of Venus and its a perfect sphere, but there is a 6 point starburst around the edges. Even with the violet filter, the exposure had to be cut way down.

Violet filter is too dark for Jupiter though, but it did make a visible contrast with the bands.

I tried a blue filter as it was the only one compareable to violet. it dod cut down on the glare some...
I got lucky... the weather cleared up in time for me to see both planets tonight in one teloscopic field of view! :)Did you get any images of them together?

Nope..nothing but cloudy skies again last night. Tonight, when I have unavoidable teacher sorta of plans, I am betting it will be clear skies. *sigh*
