Had another go round with the telescope and camera with its homemade focal reducer.  My biggest hitch was not working with the motor drive, and getting the framerate/exposure settings right without it.  Won't make THAT mistake again.  I did get some good shots, and I might (emphasis on might) get em stacked to bring out more detail.  But I have to admit,  the AVI file, with jupiter moving through the heavens, with its moons in tow is a beautiful sight.

I'm thinking of getting a drive for my scope too. Any sugestions/ I thought od possibly ditching my current e/q mount setup for a computerized one, but not sure if it's worth the cost.

The motor drive I have isn't computerised. It attaches to the declination control, and is battery operated. I am, however, looking to get a different EQ mount, so I can have a dual axis motor drive. Doesn't matter if it's a battery operated hand control device or computerized (my opinion, the less complicated the less chance of breakage)as long as it does the trick.

I completely understand here. I don't like thinkgs complicated myself.I also use a Telrad in addition to the 9by 50 finder that comes with it to locate objects.
For now, I'm probably going for just a motor drive myself(R/A). The mount my c8-newtonian currently rides on is a chinese no name version of a celestron cg-5.I would like to try to get a motor drive for it, but not sure who makes one for it.
