Fresh flowers

For the birds, not for me.  Just went out and clipped some Geraldton Wax flowers, filled with nectar, for Archimedes and Eileen.  It's amazing to hear birds 'purring' but that is pretty much the noise them make when they are satisfied. :)

Those darlins' are Rainbow Lorikieets, Swainson variety. :) The clown up front is Archimedes. Eileen is the one on the left. She got that name because when I got her, she had injured leg, and kind of tipped to one side. So, "Eileen".

That's what I thought.
Husband used to work in Australia and knew some very nice people who lived outside Melbourne.
They had a big deck on their house and used to have lorikeets come to be hand-fed.

This pretty babies are natives of the "eastern states", but are an introduced 'vermin' species here in West Australia. That is why after I got them from the vet for care and rehab, they can't be released. Archimedes was young enough that he got imprinted on me,so he wouldn't survive even if he could be released. But Eileen was almost adult when I got her and could, but hey, she finally stopped screaming at me whenever she saw me, and actually allows handfeeding.

They like teasing the cats, and will herd em down the hallway.

Today, its very sunny, and has warmed up a bit, but the house is cold. The bane of stone and slate floors, with brick walls. Have the woodstove going, baking the chill out. Birds appreciate it, as they are squawking and carrying on.:)
