Music from days of yore

I have been in the mood for the old rock ballads. After hearing yet another talentless 'popsinger' bleat and bray on the radio, I had to listen to something that actually showed musicality and ability. In this day and age of accepting mediocrity, I am not surprised to see/hear a parade and plethora of lip-synchers. It's sad to think that if certain musicians from say 20 years ago tried to break into the business nowadays, they would be rebuffed. Not pretty or handsome enough, can't fit into the 'one square foot of fabric' costume and shake body parts, or looks sloppy in a 'muscle shirt'. That seems to be just about the only criteria for 'singers' today.
For referrence, check out Ashlee Simpsons performance at a college football game. She was so horrid, she got boo'ed off stage. Ah but she can be shoehorned into tight vinyl/leather pants so that's all that matters.
