As terrible as it was

An 18 yr old surfer was killed by two great white sharks (called White Pointers in the land of Roos).  He was being towed behind a boat, while laying on a half sized surfboard. From underneath the water, for all intents and purposes, he would have appeared to be a large sea turtle, something great whites are known for noshing on. 

As horrific as his being killed was, the knee jerk reaction of the gov't to "KILL ALL THE GREAT WHITES"  in the area is plain stupid.  Calling the shark a "Killer shark" or "man eater" is wrong.  It was just being a shark. Even the parents of the boy killed say "Don't blame the shark for being a shark."  They said their son knew the risks of playing in the ocean, and again as horrible as it was, it was man trespassing in the sharks domain, not the other way around.

Leave the sharks alone, and stop with enflaming people with sensational terms and headlines.

I agree with you. With that logic, we should all stop driving and kill all cars (hmmmm . . .). Oh, and eating too much also causes death, so stop eating too. Sheesh. People are stupid everywhere, it's the one constant we all have in common.

I said pretty much the same thing to my hubby. "When a plane crashes, we should go out to hunt and kill pilots? Or how about after a car crash, go kill all the mechanics?"

Blaming an animal for doing what it does in its' own environment is stupid. Maybe we should off all the politicians for lying with that logic. (evil cackle)

I think he was being a bit of idiot and yeah it's the shark's backyard anyway.

More people are killed on roads than there are shark attacks anyway .

People are always quick to comdemn , which annoys the hell out of me among other things about people .
