anysiaHe has only been here for 2 days, and he has calmed down a great deal. I examined him from a distance, and the more I saw, the more angry I got at the hamhanded idiots at that vets office. Not only did they trim his flight feathers wrong, they injured his leg in the process. From the looks of the box he was housed in for the trip home, they had the poor thing stuck in that overnight. What were they using for brains?
The bottle brush trees on our property have thousands of buds, but very few blossoms. The neighbor across the street has a lovely tree with 6 inch long blossoms. I went over, politely introduced myself, and told the ladies how I home care for injured birds, especially hookbills, and would it be ok if I nipped a few blossom from their tree. Nice manners do pay off, as they both said help myself.:)
So, Archimedes and Newbie (not its' name really, more like an IBSN number) are noshing on nectar and pollen along with their nectar mix.
Wing went out a while ago, to gather items for breakfast. He asked me to slice the 'shrooms (I got these lucious swiss brown mushrooms, about 3 inches in diameter) Yummy.
