to me, my body is my temple and its as decorated as my house! while the tat's are more well thought out, and piercings come and go..i still enjoy getting em and seein em! hated the whole yuppie college kid phase of getting their bellybuttons done to be oh so rebelious, so i took mine out..hows THAT for rebellion lol..jk. meanwhile 7 tats later, a new one on the way and i am getting my septum done as soon as i am sure i can work with the spacer not showing.
I understand about taking the belly ring out because all the college girls suddenly to the urge to rebel that way. I didn't get mine done for similar reasons.
My tattoos have very deep spiritual meanings, rather shamanistic, therefore are not tacky. I have seen some bloody awful tattoos. But I can hardly fit into the food group of "a young impulsive action I would regret in my adult years". 40+ when the first needle touched my skin for a tattoo.
Personally, I find tattoos, body piercings, and the like revolting and tacky - however, I'd never say they're immoral - what IS that? What is that attitude?
I like to keep my body pure and clean, but some people like that stuff - who cares?
Don't like *insert any choice here* - don't get one/have one/do that, then!
well i figure you get wrinkles, scars and those god awful stretch marks..they all show some point in your life. so does my body art. again, thats if its not the rose on the ass kinda tat lol. mine all have to do with something special to me, like the sanskrit mantra around my ankle or the HUGE angel on my back. you pierce your ears, wear make up and so on to achieve a look you like...same with body art.
(chuckle) I agree with the 'rose tatt on the ass'. Thatis usually something someone gets done on a spur of the moment.
Body art, whether it's permanent tattooing, or temporary henna/mendhi, piercing can be beautiful, as well as over done at times. Too many young girls get a tattoo because it's 'cool'. I was hardly young when I get off my ass and made the time for me.

Personally, I think any body mod you want to wear is fine. I've already posted on the health benefits i've noticed since getting pierced.
This reads like an extension of the 'my flesh is a sin' argument
