Practice makes perfection
Jul. 31st, 2004 05:47 pmKim, Ludavica,
_meegan_,
polgara_hanwi (aka Shev), and I had a great practice session today. We got to play with new music. Must have new music or else we become stale and bored, like the old student group got. We want to keep it fresh and alive (as some audience members described our performances).
Today it was fine tuning small things, like proper foot placement, and not taking too big of steps. Shev got the close feet immediately. Luda, being young, tends to make the moves too big, but she scaled them down wonderfully.
Then it was zil drill. I kind of sort of tricked Luda. I have said many times, that I didn't care how they moved, but do not stand stock still when playing zils. Move, whether it's marching in place, swaying side to side, or doing hip drops. What I did, without her noticing, was get her to do the 3/4 shimmy while playing her zils! While she was going I got Meegans attention and said "lookit". Grins all around.
Sue, GET WELL SOON! Same goes to you, Robin!
