anysia | Zils and other rhythms

Introduced the tribal basic students to their zils today. When I told them last week we would start in on them, two of them looked panicky. Funny thing is today they took to them like a duck to water. One of them even got the Moroccan 6 rhythm! They were playing triples, singles, half speed, normal speed, and even had the basic beledi down! Wow. I sent two of them home with spare sets of zils to practice. I will be trying to hunt up my other small pair, as they will be easier for a beginner to play than the huge tribal zils.

This is just so thrilling!
