I had mentioned offhandedly to a friend of mine in US that I missed "Cheez-it", as it's going on 9 yrs since i had had some. They go great with minestrone soup.

He kindly offered to send me some.

Less than two weeks later, I get a card in the mailbox (yes, the one yesterday where the driver refused to stop). that I had a parcel to pick up. I had expected it to be a small parcel, about the size of a mouse pad, but the thickness of a large book. Imagine my suprise when it turned out to be this:

Luckily the carton fit on the center of my scooter and I could use the pedals as foot pegs.

Gonna have to send him something for his birthday. :D (thinks of huggin' the stuffins' outta Jared)

Yes. I would have been thrilled no end with just one box of them. But 3 flavors, two of each? Oh my. O.O

What is a Cheez It? Is it a puffed corn thing like Cheezels?

Oh heck no. If it was something that mundane and bland I wouldn't have missed them.

A Cheez-It is a baked cracker, made with 100% real cheese. I have had the ones here, and they don't come close.

*urp*

Food parcels are lots of fun. I used to send tinned passionfruit pulp and laksa paste to a Perth programmer marooned in Los Angeles.

Other items of international exchange included candy corns and Hershy Peanut Cups sent from the US to ex-pats here in Perth, and of course the traditional Vegemite and Tim Tams to Aussies in Germany.

Closer to home Husband has been instructed to bring home some Haigh's chocolate from South Australia, and he'll be mainlining the local iced coffee like there's no tomorrow. It just can't be got here in Perth. I even contacted the manufacturer.

*nods* Son and I kind of plowed through one of the boxes today as lunch. We are satiated, so I am sure the others will last a while. Just hope I don't have to wait 9yrs again.
