anysia: Portrait in 13 Candles (Huntress - Ren)
Up at OMIGOD hundred hours on a Saturday morning, to take the Avarian and Scythian bows for test firing. [livejournal.com profile] aikidomayland fixed the string bridge on the Scythian, and we shall see if it holds.

He made up several arrows with different spines to make sure we each get the right weight and stiffness.

Still half asleep, but should be awake by the time we get there.

Well, this is how well it shot when spine testing. The barrel arrows seem to be the perfect ones for the bow, as I nailed the red dot from the previous end labeled "Barrel" with another barrel tapered arrow. The Horn nocked ones are also fairly decent. Was surprised to have parted the fletches of two of the 'test arrows' though, because I honestly didn't think I was that good of a shot. The red dots to the right of the strip were arrows that were too light or too heavy landed.

The 30, 35 and 40 spines can be used but it seems that 25, 45 and 55 lbs are not an option.
There is some handshock with the Scythian, and I did notice my hand got sore holding it. I guess I am spoiled by contoured recurve grips. I am sure I will get accustomed to it. :D
