Now for something a bit more serious
Jun. 2nd, 2004 04:08 pmAs much as I agree with banning smoking in public venues due to health issues, one major issue I think has been seriously overlooked.
Many people seem to think they have to either steep or marinate in the vilest colognes and perfumes currently on the market to the point they leave vapor trails behind themselves as they walk by. One of the worst products on the market now is a vile concoction called "LYNX". LYNX.. rhymes with stinks. Coincidence? I think not.
The reason this is a serious problem is people with allergies, asthma, and other respiratory ailments when cologne soaked people walk by. I have found myself literally gasping for air trying to breathe, my throat closing down, after some woman that smells like she tried to drown herself at the DIOR counter walks by. I have started choking and reaching for ventylin inhaler after some silly man/boy walks by smelling as if he upended a barrel of LYNX over his head.
And I am sure I am not the only one this happens to. (Actually, I know I'm not. Have discussed this with other people before). So if the gov't is so hepped on health issues of smoking and smoking in public, then something should be done about the toxic vapors of overused scent. A little does go a long way people. Either that, or try using soap and water more often.
