I have been fighting with my ISP and programs for the past few days. I have adsl here, and I kept getting timeouts and disconnections. Being the compugeek, I checked everything and anything it could possibly be, then after 2 days called their tech support. I have to say they are the most polite bunch of techs I have dealt with in ages.

After assuring them that I have changed nothing on my system, they told me that it could be my firewall program, and suggested I uninstall it, wipe all referrences of it from the directories. (I went one better and ripped everything pertaining to it from the registry and in other hidden areas.) then I tried a different firewall program... same problem of disconnects and timeouts. So, uninstalled and removed all traces of it from the systems, and installed newer version of the 1st firewall, and it still was disconnecting. Then I removed all firewalls and ran the systems 'naked', and I still got timeouts. So, the very nice tech (hiya Jeff!) is getting ahold of the telephone company to see if there is a fault in the line or if they are working on the lines. If that isn't the problem, my "Purchase curse" has struck again. No matter what electrical appliance I get, the first one is faulty and has to be returned. Hoping that since hubby actually bought the adsl modem, that it is immune.

Stay tuned, while I try to stay connected!
